Norwich University, located in Northfield, Vermont, is the nation's oldest private military college and among the 40 oldest institutions of higher education in the nation. Founded in 1819 by Captain Alden Partridge, the University pioneered the "citizen-soldier" concept, integrating military training with a liberal arts curriculum. It is one of six senior military colleges in the United States.

Norwich is home to approximately 2,000 traditional students. Of these, 60% are enrolled in the Corps of Cadets, a structured military-style program that prepares students to lead in a globalized world.

Civilian and commuter students make up the other 40%. Norwich also offers a robust online program offering bachelor's, master's, degree completion, and certificate programs. Norwich's history and commitment to delivering experiential learning extends beyond the scenic 1,200-acre campus in the Green Mountains.

For more than 200 years, students have thrived in challenging hands-on experiences in the classroom, labs, field, and internships.

Norwich is the birthplace of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) and the first private university in the nation to offer a Civil Engineering Program.

It was also among the first senior military colleges to admit women in the Corps of Cadets, a full two years before the federal service academies.
