Past Events

In 2024 Norwich celebrated the 50-year anniversary of admitting its first women to the Corps of Cadets in 1974 by creating Women Kicking Glass, a yearlong, nationwide initiative recognizing the trailblazing women and significant “firsts” that paved the way for today’s students and young alumni.

The initiative energized alumni and brought public attention to Norwich’s history through a range of events and activities, both in-person and virtually.

Highlights included:

• The publication of an oral history featuring the stories of more than 500 alumnae.

• Weekly email profiles recognizing trailblazing women leaders.

• A retrospective museum exhibit documenting women’s history at Norwich.

• The establishment of the Women Kicking Glass Scholarship to support future generations of students.

• A gala celebration and fundraising auction attended by more than 400 alumni, students, and friends.

There have been 21 in-person and virtual events since 2024 with more to come!
