Women Kicking Glass
Norwich admitted its first women to the Corps of Cadets in 1974. Making it one of the first senior military colleges in the nation to accept women—two years before the federal service academies. Civilian women were also invited to live on campus.
In 2024 Norwich celebrated the 50-year anniversary by creating Women Kicking Glass. What was a yearlong, nationwide initiative recognizing the trailblazing women and significant “firsts” that paved the way for today’s students and young alumni.
Originally envisioned as a one-year commemoration, the overwhelming enthusiasm, participation, and philanthropic support for Women Kicking Glass indicated the need to create an ongoing community dedicated to supporting and advancing Norwich women.
Women Kicking Glass has now been established as a permanent affinity group at the University. Our mission is to empower students and alumni to lead boldly, serve with purpose, and make a meaningful impact.
The leadership committee is comprised of volunteers spanning four decades of experience, being supported by a staff liaison.
